Demopolis, Alabama

Another day, another state. This part of the trip was so exciting someone had a hard time just staying awake for it!! Could be 'cause we got up at 6am since it was such a long trip today. We went 117 miles today and did 3 locks to get to Demopolis, Alabama. The top pic is limestone cliffs we saw today, they were just beautiful. Lots of white egrets too. The next couple of days is supposed to be really desolute. The next marina, about 100 miles away is called Bobbys Fish Camp!! I kid you not!! About 250 miles til we reach Mobile and the Gulf ! Love to you all! Bud, Fran and Ray

  2. Oh my gosh, I read this blog and dream about my husband and me doing all these things in a couple of years. Love the photography too!

I'm curious how you are accessing the internet to upload your posts--do you have onboard satellite or are you finding "hot spots" along the way? It would be great if someday you put together a post that gives us wannabe's some advice on these sorts of practical things. For example, how easy is it to buy provisions, how you access the internet, what have been the challenging aspects of the trip? Things like that.

    Safe travels and keep posting!

  3. This is a repeat post from the Bayliner Owners Club site where I found you today. I hope you are going to the AGLCA fall rendezvous. We will start the Great Loop from Lake Erie next August (2010) and would love to visit with you. We have a 4788 as well. We brought it to Lake Erie from Annapolis, MD and were so happy with it's performance in the locks (Erie Canal, Oswego Canal and Welland). It's a pleasure for two to handle. However, it's the river system that tends to worry me...the unknown is always so daunting!
